Pinewood Derby Graphite / Lubrication

  • This has the consistency of fine talc powder. Will hold shape under compression. Great blend to pack into the void space of a wheel hub.
  • Hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN) is also known as "White Graphite" has similar (hexagonal) crystal structure as of Graphite. This crystal structure provides excellent lubricating properties. hBN is much superior to Graphite and has following characteristics:
  • Most custom blends of dry lube contain a portion of this type of lube. Here's your chance to make your winning blend! Enough to play with to get your experiment down to a reasonable price.   Do we recommend this for PWD?  Derby Dust only recommends pure graphite as a racing lube.
  • After you have wet sanded your axles, get that mirror polish with this compound. Use a drill and provided clean t-shirts strips to bring those axles to a mirror finish. More than enough to do a dozen axles. 1 Gram of 2 micron heavy concentration diamond polish. We use it on our axles! White T-Shirt Strips. No need to go and tear up that old t-shirt. We provided 2x strips for all your needs.
  • Tungsten Disulfide (WS2) is dry/solid lubricant powder and is one of the most lubricious substance in world. WS2 offers excellent dry lubricity (COF: 0.03) unmatched to any other substance, including Graphite or Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2).   Do we recommend this for PWD?  Derby Dust only recommends pure graphite as a racing lube.
